M.C. Corporation was established by Michael
and Cheryl Bilyk in 1991. Starting out in a 2,000 square foot building,
M.C. Lights’ theatre and stage lighting business quickly outpaced
our production capabilities. What was needed was a way to produce
all of our lighting components that would eliminate the tedious and
labour intensive manual production methods we were using. CNC Laser
technology would allow M.C. to produce parts faster than they could
imagine by combining processes that previously involved a punch press,
a manual shear, and a lot of time. It would also allow us to make
on-the-fly revisions to our designs to improve manufacturing efficiency
and product quality without the need for re-tooling.
In 1995, M.C.
Lights purchased an Amada LC1212 CNC Laser. Its 1500 watt resonator
allowed parts to be manufactured from a variety of materials with
tight tolerances and a very high degree of repeatability. We now
had the ability to process mild steels, stainless steels, and aluminum
alloys as well as many non-metallic materials such as woods, acrylics
and cardboard into parts using programs derived directly from CAD
drawings. Once the laser went into production, it became apparent
that M.C. now had far more capacity for part production than their
lighting business required and so M.C. Laser Werks was born.
The
expertise we developed through prototyping and developing our own
products has proven to be a valuable tool to our clients. We work
closely with our clients to design products that are manufactured
as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Our design and programming
departments are able to implement design changes from the smallest
change in hole diameters to completely redesigning components at
remarkable speeds. To improve the range of services we provide, NC
forming, stamping, a full welding shop, a machine shop, sandblasting,
and a powder coating facility have all been added to our rapidly
expanding laser cutting business.
In recent years, we have added
3 more CNC lasers to our production line to improve our versatility.
In June 2000, we added the Trumpf 2530, which allows us to cut production
times for some parts by up to 50%. Its 3000 watt resonator gave us
the ability to process up to 3/4" thick plate steel, 1/4" aluminum
and 1/2" thick stainless steel, opening up a whole new
range of possibilities for our clients. By 2002, we were ready to
grow again. This time we selected the Trumpf 3030 with a 4000 watt
resonator which further cut production times and increased material
capacities. On the opposite end of the spectrum, our Universal Laser
Engraving system allows us to etch and engrave company logos, design
layouts, identification information, or anything else our clients
may want on their products.
At M.C. Laser Werks it is our commitment
to put everything we have learned in the past 16 years to work for
you. We work closely with our clients from concept through to finished
product to ensure the utmost in quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
